Once you cross the Daintree River by ferry you might be surprised to find there is no grid connected mains electrical power in the Daintree Rainforest, and as such most people make their power from Diesel generators! Noisy, Smelly and Polluting! We love to listen to the Birds and Insects, and so have invested in renewable energy!

We have been operating on PV (Solar Cells) for well over 10 years (Even before it was fashionable) and have saved our Grand Children and yours, well over 36,000 tonnes of Co2. Not to mention the clean air we breath in here, and we don't have a noisy generator running all night to keep you awake. Eric is only too happy to show you around our power generation systems, after all he designed it! See the way of the future!

The Daintree Coast is the only place in the world where two World Heritage listed National Parks meet, The Daintree / Cape Tribulation National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine park. Two of natures most diverse environments, you will be amazed at what you see!!

Cairns Airport, the International gateway to Tropical far North Queensland  connects to Cape Tribulation, via the sealed, all weather, Captain James Cook Highway. A 4x4 vehicle is NOT nessesary, a standard car is fine!

The Coastal drive is picturesque and there are many opportunities to take some photo's of the stunning scenery particulary during "The Wet" March to May.

You will also want to stop off at Mossman Gorge for a walk through some cool Rainforest, surrounded by cliffs rising 300 metreas above you! There is an Indigenous Cultural Centre at the entrance to the Gorge open Monday to Friday 9.00AM till 5.00PM.   

What is it like here!

We love it here, as do our guests, and it shows, we are rated the number one accommodation on the Daintree Coast! But it is not for everyone! If you come here for the shopping, don't!! If you come here for solitude, fun and to be in contact with nature, then it is perfect! 

The Retreat suites, reflect the environment in which we live, with bright airy decore, natural air conditioning from the Rainforest, high ceilings, ceiling fans, kitchenettes in self catering rooms. You will sleep easy on cloud comfy, queen size beds with deep, soft, non allergenic pillows, Doona's and blankets. Your private ensuite bathroom ensures a comfortable stay, as does our comfy lounge chairs or Sofa's.

 Tea & coffee facilities are in all rooms as are Refridgerators with freezers. Family rooms have full sized 240 litre Fridges. There is also Cable Television on 66 cm flat screen TVs, Radio and In room music.  We also have our private, secluded swimming pool open all hours, there is something quite special about going for a swim at midnight, but please think of others and make NO noise! 

If you are lucky enough to bring back a Barra! or a Reef fish, make use of our free gas barbeque.  If not, perhaps buy a crocodile, kangaroo or beef steak to grill on the barbeque yourself!  

                                                                                                                         Cow Bay / Cape Tribulation boasts some fime Restaurants including-                 Our very own Licensed Restaurant, "Treefrogs" will spoil you! We only cater to our in-house guest's so you will be assured of a relaxing dining experience.  Our servings are home cooked, generous and great value! Feel like a celebrity with fine service, white linen, candles, wonderful music and we are the ONLY restaurant with a roll back roof, so you can watch the stars whilst you dine! (Weather permitting of course)! 

Bookings are essential at "Treefrogs" as our ingredients are sourced for freshness locally, from farmers markets, local trawlers and specialy selected suppliers from all over Australia and do take time to aquire and prepare. Our cut off time for Restaurant bookings is 4.00 PM on the day of dining.                                

We are famous for our "Wild" ocean caught Barramindi, flown in from the Gulf of Carpentaria, there is something quite special about "Wild Barra"

"Tree Frogs" also serves a very tasty Seafood Platter for two, featuring juicy Local Prawns, Barramundi, Reef fish (Seasonal variations), Atherton grown Red Claw, Moreton Bay bugs, and from Tasmania, Scollops and Pacific Oysters. Also available upon request is fresh shashimi Tuna and Black Cobia. The platters have several tasty dipping sauces.

We serve Prime Victorian, free range 300g Fillet and Scotch Fillet, steaks that are grilled to your liking and served with a trio of condiments.        Our free range Chicken and Lamb dishes take thier flavours from the Far and Middle East with tasty Curries, and Mild Morrocan Casseroles.
